Description of Function

The role will be guided by the Head of Analytics and Portfolio Managers in the use of EQ's tools to assist in the financial analysis and assess credit risk posed by financial institutions or other investee types. DA is also expected to thoroughly understand the business model and different processes used by EQ and to appropriately follow EQ's procedures and apply its methodology.

The key functions of the Data & Portfolio Analyst role are to:

  • • Maintain and update the analytical tools and models for all funds and initiatives.
  • • Support in the development of data models and maintenance of models on Python.
  • • Analyzing automation of the Fund Analytics and creation of Fund Dashboards
  • • Managing and supporting in building MIS analytical layer
  • • Supporting cross-functional Initiatives and Projects primarily Risk, Portfolio, Investments
  • • Provide administrative and logistical support to help maintain and manage regional operations.
  • • Contribute to the team by researching, collecting and analyzing investees operational, financial and ESG information and ensuring that the information is stored on the shared drive.
  • • Support the Portfolio Manager on Portfolio Management operations.
  • • Research, analysis and reporting on invested countries.

Responsibilities:

Who you are

We are looking for a highly motivated and outspoken candidate with working experience in banking or finance (with focus on lending a plus) and/or impact investing and compelling personal background.

Key attributes and skills you bring to this exciting role are:

  • • Native or near-native speaker of English with excellent written and spoken English.
  • • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
  • • Programming Skills - knowledge of statistical programming languages like R, Python, and database query languages like SQL
  • • Experience with Data Visualization Tools like matplotlib, ggplot, d3.js., Tableau that help to visually encode data
  • • Excellent Communication Skills - it is incredibly important to describe findings to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • • Hands-on experience with data science tools
  • • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • • Degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • • Minimum of 2-3 years of working experience in banking or finance (with a focus on lending a plus) and/or impact investing
  • • Demonstrate interest in impact investing, emerging markets development, SDG's initiatives, green energy or energy transition projects
  • • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • • Strong Math Skills (Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra) - understanding the fundamentals of Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra is important as they form the basis of a lot of predictive performance or algorithm optimization techniques.
  • • Ability to evaluate country risk and develop an understanding of the political and economic context in emerging markets.
  • • Aptitude to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.

Whom you will work with

The DA will work closely with the Portfolio Managers & Head of Analytics of EQ advised funds and the investment team in running the portfolio management models and liaising with EQ's Risk Management team highlighting key risks and supporting Senior Management Team in the overview of the fund analytics process.
